We help B2B teams fix broken workflows, automate follow-up, and turn HubSpot into a revenue engine.

Klaviyo built its reputation in ecommerce. Its email automation, segmentation, and SMS capabilities made it the default for direct-to-consumer brands, and it still owns that space decisively. HubSpot built its reputation in B2B — CRM, marketing automation, sales tools, and increasingly AI.

The two are moving toward each other. Klaviyo has expanded into B2B workflows. HubSpot has sharpened its email marketing capabilities. The overlap is real enough that B2B teams evaluating email platforms now have to take Klaviyo seriously, and HubSpot users considering platform consolidation need to understand what they’d be trading away.

This comparison is for B2B teams where email is a primary pipeline channel — nurture sequences, campaign sends, behavioral triggers — and the choice is genuinely contested.

What Klaviyo Actually Does for B2B

Klaviyo’s core advantage is behavioral segmentation and automation. Its flows (the term for automated sequences) are built around event triggers — someone visits a page, downloads an asset, hits a usage threshold in a connected product, doesn’t open an email after 14 days. The trigger logic is granular and the automation builder is fast to work with.

For B2B SaaS teams with product data, Klaviyo’s event-based segmentation is genuinely compelling. If you can pipe product events into Klaviyo — trial started, feature used, login lapse — the automation logic responds at a level of specificity that HubSpot’s Workflows requires more engineering to replicate.

Klaviyo’s email analytics are strong. Open rates, click rates, revenue attribution, and A/B test results are clearly surfaced and quick to drill into. For teams that run frequent sends and need fast feedback loops, the reporting UX is faster than HubSpot’s.

What Klaviyo doesn’t have is a native CRM. It has contact profiles and list management, but not deal pipelines, company records with full relationship mapping, or sales activity logging. Teams that need marketing and sales on one platform can’t run on Klaviyo alone.

What HubSpot Does Better

HubSpot vs Klaviyo: Which Platform Wins for B2B Email Teams

CRM depth. This is the decisive difference. HubSpot’s contact, company, deal, and ticket objects are relational — you can see that a contact is at a company that has three active deals, two support tickets, and a renewal in 60 days. Klaviyo has contact records; HubSpot has a full data model.

Marketing-to-sales handoff. When marketing and sales share HubSpot, the lead handoff is native. A marketing-qualified lead in HubSpot is already in the system the sales team uses. Klaviyo hands off to a separate CRM, which means integration overhead and attribution gaps.

Multi-channel sequence management. HubSpot Sequences (for 1:1 sales emails) and Workflows (for marketing automation) are distinct tools within the same platform. Reps can run personalized outreach sequences while marketing runs nurture campaigns to the same contacts — with shared visibility into what’s been sent. Klaviyo is marketing email only.

Reporting across the funnel. HubSpot’s attribution reports tie email campaign engagement to pipeline and revenue. You can see which emails influenced closed-won deals, not just which emails got clicked. Klaviyo’s revenue attribution is strong for ecommerce (direct purchase tracking), but lighter for B2B pipeline attribution where the sale happens weeks or months after the email.

Pricing Reality at B2B Scale

Klaviyo’s pricing scales with contact volume and email sends. For B2B lists — typically smaller than B2C, higher-value contacts — Klaviyo can be very cost-effective:

  • Up to 1,000 contacts: free
  • Up to 5,000 contacts: approximately $100/month
  • Up to 15,000 contacts: approximately $200/month

HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional starts at approximately $800/month (2,000 marketing contacts included), scaling with contact volume.

For a B2B team with a list under 15,000 contacts that runs primarily email marketing, Klaviyo at $200/month versus HubSpot at $1,000+/month is a significant difference. The question is whether HubSpot’s CRM and sales tooling justify the gap — and that depends entirely on whether sales is also on the platform.

If your sales team uses Salesforce and marketing needs a standalone email tool, Klaviyo’s pricing is hard to argue with at moderate contact volumes. If sales needs a CRM and you want everything in one place, HubSpot’s pricing includes more than just the email tool.

Integrations and the HubSpot-Klaviyo Connector

Both platforms integrate with most major B2B tools. Notably, HubSpot and Klaviyo have a native integration that syncs contacts, lists, and events between the two platforms. Some teams run this hybrid setup: Klaviyo for campaign email and nurture sequences, HubSpot for CRM and sales. The integration is real and reasonably stable, though sync conflicts and attribution fragmentation are ongoing operational overhead.

The hybrid works best when there’s a clear owner for each platform and a shared data model that everyone agrees on. It fails when both teams are making contact updates and list changes without coordination.

The Decision Framework

Choose Klaviyo if: You need a standalone email marketing tool with strong behavioral automation and your sales team already has a CRM they won’t move off of. You’re running a product-led growth motion with event-driven triggers. Your list is under 15,000 contacts and the pricing difference matters.

Choose HubSpot if: You want marketing and sales on one platform. Your sales team needs a real CRM and you don’t want to manage integrations between systems. AI-native features (Breeze, Content Agent, Prospecting Agent) are on your roadmap. You’re scaling to a point where having fragmented tools creates reporting and ops overhead.

Run both if: You’re already committed to one platform for a major team and the other platform solves a specific gap that integration can cover cleanly. This works but adds overhead; it’s not the default recommendation.

The honest framing: Klaviyo wins on email-specific capability per dollar at most B2B contact volumes. HubSpot wins when you need the full revenue platform, not just the email channel.
